PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Courtney Griffith (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) finished fifth in the 100 fly to lead the Mount
St. Mary's women's swimming team to a 14th-place standing after the
second day of the ECAC Open Swimming & Diving Championships on
Saturday.
Griffith, who notched the best finish in program history at the
Northeast Conference (NEC) Swimming & Diving Championships last
weekend with a silver medal in the 100 fly, finished fifth in the
event at the ECAC Championships on Saturday with a time of
56.87.
Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) finished 13th in the
100 back (59.35).
Coppler opened the 12th place 200-medley relay (1:51.49) and was
followed by Molly Kristiniak (Oreland, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy),
Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) and Griffith.
Griffith, Coppler, Patricia Yam (Placenta, Calif./Rosary) and
Victoria Shaw (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) teamed up to place
13th in the 800-free relay (7:57.41).
Harvard leads the three-day event with a score of 449 while New
Hampshire (397), Marist (324), Central Connecticut State (265) and
Rider (253) round out the Top-5 teams in the 21 team field. The
Mount sits in 14th place with 61.5 points.
Mount St. Mary's concludes its 2010-11 season at the final day
of the ECAC Open Swimming & Diving Championships on Sunday.
Events will include the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast,
200 fly, and the 400-free relay. Preliminaries start at 10 a.m. and
final will begin at 6 p.m.
