PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Courtney Griffith (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) finished 13th in the 50 free to lead the
Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team to a 12th-place standing
after the first day of the ECAC Open Swimming & Diving
Championships on Friday.
Griffith finished fifth in the "B" final to place 13th in the 50
free with a time of 24.64. Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico
Fermi) ended two places behind Griffith in 15th place with a time
of 25.05.
Griffith and Coppler also helped the Mount win the "B" final and
place ninth overall in the 200-free relay (1:39.20). The duo swam
the first two legs before Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop
John Carroll) and Patricia Yam (Placenta, Calif./Rosary) concluded
the relay.
Walsh, Molly Kristiniak (Oreland, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy),
Yam and Victoria Shaw (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) finished
16th in the 400-medley relay (4:19.85).
New Hampshire leads the three-day competition with a score of
184, two strokes ahead of Harvard (182) while Marist (109), Rider
(97) and Central Connecticut State (88) round out the Top-5 teams
in the 19-team field. The Mountaineers currently sit in 12th place
with 25.5 points.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action with the second day of the
ECAC Open Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday. Events
on the day include the 200-medley relay, the 400 IM, the 100 fly,
the 200 free, the 100 breast, the 100 back and the 800-free relay.
Preliminaries start at 10 a.m. and final begin at 6 p.m.
