HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) finished sixth to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a sixth-place standing at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Tuesday.
Roe carded a 75 in the first round on Monday to go into the final round with a five-stroke lead. It was the second-best round in program history. The senior then shot a 95 in the final round to end the competition with a score of 170 and finish in sixth place, 13 strokes behind the medalist.
Jen Kim (Blue Bell, Pa./Methacton) (8th place, 171), Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary's Academy) (25th place, 181), Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (27th place, 182) and Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (27th place, 182) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (43rd place, 193) and Sara Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) (46th place, 208) competed in the event as individuals.
Youngstown State won the two-day event with a score of 677, 10 strokes ahead of Laval (687) while Niagara (690), Robert Morris (694) and Wagner rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mountaineers posted a 337 in the first round to go into the final round in first place before shooting a 358 in the final round to post a 695 in the competition and finish in sixth place.
Mount St. Mary's concludes the fall slate at the Rutgers Fall Invitational on Friday.
