HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) finished third to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a second-place standing at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Tuesday.
Michalek posted a pair of 74's in the two rounds to finish with a total of 148, five strokes behind the medalist.
Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (9th place, 152), Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (10th place, 154), Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (17th place, 159) and Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) (23rd place, 163) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Ryan Lee (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) (34th place, 174) made his 2011-12 debut as an individual.
Robert Morris won its own two-day event with a score of 600, five strokes ahead of the Mount (605) while Clarion (617), Point Park (630) and Wagner (640) round out the Top-5 teams in the seven-team field. The Mountaineers posted a 299 in the first round and a 306 in the final round to post a 605 in the event.
The Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic concluded the Mount's fall schedule.
