Roe And Women's Golf Lead Field At Colonial Classic After First Round

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) leads the field to pace the Mount St. Mary's women's golf standing to a first-place standing after the first round of the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Monday.

Roe posted a 38 on the front nine holes and then a 37 on the final holes to card a 75 for the round and will go into the final round with a five stroke lead. The round of 75 is the second-best single round in program history. Roe will be looking for her second medalist honor this season and third of her career.

Roe helped the Mount go into the final round with a three stroke advantage over Niagara (340) while Youngstown State (342), Wheeling Jesuit (352) and Robert Morris (353) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the eight-team field.

Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (10th place, 85), Jen Kim (Blue Bell, Pa./Methacton) (11th place, 86), Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary's Academy) (24th place, 91) and Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (29th place, 94) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (34th place, 96) and Sara Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) (42nd place, 105) competed in the event as individuals.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action in the final round of the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Tuesday.
