HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) sits in third place to pace the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a second-place standing after the first round of the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Monday.
Coming off medalist honors from the ECAC Championships on Oct. 1, Ellison posted a two-over 38 in the first nine holes and then fired a three under back nine to finish the first round with a one under round of 71, one stroke behind the medalist.
Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) also finished in the Top-10, placing sixth with a two-over round of 74 while Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (12th place, 77), Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (12th place, 77) and Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (19th place, 79) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Ryan Lee (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) (34th place, 89) made his 2011-12 debut as an individual.
Robert Morris leads its own two-day event with a score of 294, five strokes ahead of the Mount (299) while Clarion (308), Point Park (316) and Wagner (319) round out the Top-5 teams in the seven-team field.
Mount St. Mary's concludes its fall season at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Classic on Tuesday.
