VERONA, N.Y. - Dan Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph)
finished 15th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a
14th-place standing after two rounds of the Turning Stone Tiger
Intercollegiate on Sunday. The event is the squad's first event of
the season.
Michalek posted a 78 in the first round and a team-best 74 in
the second round for a two-round score of 152, eight strokes behind
the current leader.
Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) (61st place,
163), Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (64th place,
165), Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (64th
place, 165) and Ray Hyre (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (75th place, 169)
rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Ellison and O'Grady are
making their collegiate debut in the event.
Purdue leads the three-round event with a two-round score of
593, 12 strokes ahead of Bowling Green (605) while Missouri (606),
Connecticut (609) and Kansas (610) round out the Top-5 teams in the
18-team field. The Mountaineers shot a 328 in the first round and a
313 in the second round to card a 641 in the two rounds to sit in
14th place.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action in the final round of the
Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate on Monday.
