Emmitsburg, Md. (September 26, 2010)-Mount St. Mary's cruised past visiting La Salle, 6-1, in men's tennis action at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.

The Mount (2-0) swept all three doubles matches to take the doubles point. Matthew Blake and Taylor Place combined to edge George Gennaoui and Chas Berenato, 9-7, at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2 doubles, Mike Salomon and Mike Zabetakis posted an 8-3 win over Trevor Donovan and Mike Kosich while Patrick Plastow and Andrew Marinucci defeated Joe LaJate and Rob Knaster, 8-5, at No. 3 singles.

In singles play, Blake defeated Gennaoui, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 while Salomon was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 2 over Berenato. Zabetakis posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Donovan at No.3 singles with Place winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, over LaJate. Marinucci won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 over Kosich at No. 6.

The Mount returns to action next Saturday and Sunday when they host the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
