PHOENIX, Md. - Autumn Serruta (Avon, Conn./Avon) finished 19th
to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team an eighth-place
standing at the Towson Invitational on Monday. The two-day event
was the squad's first event of the year.
Serruta posted an 81 on the first day and an 85 in the final
round for a two-round score of 166 and finish in 19th place, 21
strokes behind the medalist.
Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (23rd place, 166), Sarah Roe
(Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (36th place, 176) and
Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (40th place, 196) rounded out
the Mount's four competitors. Megan Corbett (Danbury,
Conn./Danbury) shot an 84 in the first round before withdrawing on
Tuesday.
Fairleigh Dickinson won the event with a score of 628, one
stroke ahead of host Towson (629) while St. John's (644), Hampton
(657) and Fairfield (661) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mount
shot a 336 on Monday and a 357 in the final round to card a 693 for
the tournament and finish in eighth place.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the ECAC Championships on
Oct. 3.
