OCEAN VIEW, Del. - Dan Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St.
Joseph) ranks 28th after two rounds to lead the Mount St. Mary's
men's golf team to a 13th-place standing at the George Washington
Invitational on Friday.
Michalek posted a 72 in the first round and a 77 in the second
round of the afternoon to finish with a score of 149 in 28th place,
15 strokes behind the current leader.
Ray Hyre (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (59th place, 158), Brandon Powers
(Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) (76th place, 162), Brad Gerick (Pylesville,
Md./North Harford)(83rd place, 166) and Sage Smith (Denver,
Colo./Brophy) (91st place, 172) rounded out the Mount's
competitors.
Missouri leads the competition with a two-round score of 550, 23
strokes ahead of Yale (573) while Towson (583), George Washington-B
(592) and Delaware (593)round out the Top-5 teams in the 16-team
field. Mount St. Mary's shot a 314 in the first round and a 317 in
the second round to card a 631 for the afternoon and finished in
13th place.
The Mount returns to action on Saturday in the final round of
the George Washington Invitational.
