EMMITSBURG, Md. - Despite winning eight of the 11 events, Mount
St. Mary's fell to Radford 105-100 in women's swimming action on
Saturday.
Patricia Yam (Placenta, Calif./Rosary) won three events to pace
the Mount in the loss. The freshman won the 200 free (2:14.66), the
100 fly (1:07.86) and the 400 free (4:48.90).
Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) won the 800 free
(9:38.57) and the 100 back (1:08.26) while Courtney Griffith
(Westminster, Md./Westminster) notched a first-place finish in the
100 free (1:00.16).
Griffith, Molly Kristiniak (Oreland, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy),
Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) and Joanna Hale
(Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) won the 200-medley relay (2:09.64), and
Walsh, Coppler, Jessica Gardner (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins
Mill) and Hale teamed up to win the 200-free relay (1:56.79).
Walsh finished second on the 200 IM (2:37.45), Hale and
Kristiniak each placed third in the 50 free (29.40) and the 100
breast (1:27.96), respectively.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at VMI on Jan. 15. Liberty
will also be competing in the meet with the Keydets and the
Mountaineers.
