EMMITSBURG, Md. - Sacred Heart scored in the 59th minute to defeat Mount St. Mary's 1-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) men's soccer action on Friday.

Chris Davis (Townsville, Australia/Kirwan State) made two saves for the Mount (4-7-0, 1-2-0 NEC) in the loss.

Patrick Daka took a pass by Omer Levy from left to right and headed the ball in the bottom right corner at the 58:40 mark to lift the Pioneers (8-2-0, 3-0-0 NEC) to the victory. Alex Fait made two saves in the winning effort.

In the first half, Eric Detzel (York, Pa./Central York) had his shot stopped by Fait in the sixth minute. Chris Wheeler (Newcastle, Australia/St. Francis Xavier) had a couple of good chances in the final frame. The junior missed a scoring chance on a header going to the left of the pipes in the 48th minute and then gave Mount St. Mary's its final scoring chance, but Fait turned away his shot in the 60th minute. The Mount had three corner kicks in the final 30 minutes, but no shots.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action against Fairleigh Dickinson at Waldron Family Stadium on Sunday. Match time is 1 p.m.
