VALLEY, Pa. Justin Nogay (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown
Prep) finished in 29th place to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's
golf team to a 12th-place standing at the Lafayette Invitational on
Sunday.
Nogay,
who sat in 41st place after the first day of competition with a
round of 82, posted a team-low 74 in the final round to move up to
29th place with a two-round score of 156, 10 strokes behind the
medalist. It marks the third-straight competition the freshman has
finished as the Mount's top golfer in an event.
Brad
Gerick (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (43rd place, 158), Tim
Evelius (Westminster, Md./Westminster) (47th place, 160), Jeff
Kingsbury (North Beach, Md./Northern) (47th place, 160) and Steve
Crain (Wellsville, Pa./Northern York) (53rd place, 161) rounded out
the Mount's competitors.
Lehigh
won the event with a two-round score of 592, 15 strokes ahead of
Villanova (607) while Delaware (608), Drexel (612), Colgate (618)
and Siena (618) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. The
Mountaineers moved up a spot in the standings after posting a 327
in the first round and a 303 in the final round for a two-day total
of 630.
Mount
St. Mary's returns to action on Apr. 20 when the squad hosts the
Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf
Course in Littlestown, Pa.
