HERSHEY,
Pa. Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) sits in 14th place to
lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a fifth-place
standing after the first day of the Northeast Conference (NEC)
Championships on Friday.
Hall
posted the third-best mark in program history at the NEC
Championships after carding an 82 in the first round. The freshman
is eight strokes behind the current leader and two strokes from the
Top-10.
Christina
Koerper (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Mount St. Joseph Academy) and Megan
Corbett (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) are both two strokes behind Hall
in 19th place with an 84, the fifth-best total in team history at
the tournament. Ananda
Rochita (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) (30th place, 87) and Maddy
Martin (LaVale, Md./Allegheny) (41st place, 97) round out the
Mount's competitors.
Fairleigh
Dickinson leads the three-round event after the first round with a
score of 311, eight strokes ahead of Sacred Heart (319) while Long
Island (321), Robert Morris (328), the Mountaineers (335), Saint
Francis (Pa.) (338), Central Connecticut State (340), Monmouth
(364), St. Francis (N.Y.) (368) and Wagner (376) round out the
10-team field. Mount St. Mary's round of 335 marked the best mark
in program history at the league championships, 10 strokes better
than a 345 shot in the second round of the 2006
championships.
The
Mount returns to action on Saturday in the second round of the NEC
Championships.
