SAVANNAH,
Ga. Sage Smith (Denver, Colo./Brophy) finished in 19th place
to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a 10th-place
standing at the Lonnie Barton Invitational on Tuesday.
Smith
posted an 83 in the first round and then recorded a team-best 77 in
the second round for a two-round total of 160 to place 19th, 17
strokes behind the medalist.
Brandon
Powers (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) (43rd place, 173), Steve Crain
(Wellsville, Pa./Northern York) (45th place, 173), Jeff Kingsbury
(North Beach, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (47th place, 179) and Jake
Wetzel (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa./Waynesboro Area) (49th place, 183)
rounded out the Mountaineers' competitors.
Longwood
won the event after notching the Top-3 finishers in the event with
a two-round score of 598, 12 strokes ahead of Miami (Ohio) (610)
while Towson (625), Siena (637), Bryant (639) and Long Island (639)
rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mountaineers finished 10th with a
score of 684.
The
Mount returns to action at the George Washington Invitational on
Mar. 20.
