EMMITSBURG, Md. - Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Mount St. Mary's
100-67 in women's swimming action on Saturday.
Courtney Gaddi (Silver Spring, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and
Courtney Griffith (Westminster, Md./Westminster) each finished
second in two individual events to pace the Mount. Gaddi finished
second in the 200 free (2:15.65) and in the 100 free (1:01.99)
while Griffith placed second in the 800 free (9:42.81) and the 100
fly (1:07.91).
Paige Chenet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) notched the Mount's lone
victory on the afternoon in the 400 free (4:53.67) and Jeanne Marie
Benedetti (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) finished right
behind Chenet in the event (4:55.80). Benedetti also finished third
in the 200 free (2:20.67).
Heather Kurtzman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) notched a second-place
standing in the 100 back (1:13.43) and a third-place finish in the
400 IM (5:42.08) while Maggie O'Connell Dubois (Hagerstown, Md.)
placed third in both the 100 back (1:13.90) and the 50 free
(30.12). Mary Beth Kasda (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) finished second in
the 100 breast (1:24.97).
The quartet of Kurtzman, Kasda, O'Connell Dubois and Chenet
placed second in the 200-medley relay (2:12.18) while Benedetti,
Chenet, Gaddi and Griffith teamed up for a second-place standing in
the 400-free relay (4:11.62).
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Friday at Saint Peter's.
