FARMVILLE,
Va. Sophomore Sage Smith (Scotsdale, Ariz./Brophy) finished
13th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a fourth-place
standing after two rounds at the Manor Intercollegiate on Monday.
Teams played two rounds on the afternoon.
Smith
recorded a 75 in the first and second round for a two-round total
of 150 to sit in 13th place, 10 strokes behind the current
leader.
Freshman
Brandon Powers and junior Jeff Kingsbury (North Beach,
Md./Northern) each finished in the Top-20 after carding a 152 in
the first two rounds. Powers shot a team-best 71 in the first round
and an 81 in the second round while Kingsbury posted a 77 and a 75.
Junior Alex Mabin (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) (25th place, 153), and
sophomore Jake Wetzel (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) (41st
place, 159) rounded out the Mount's competitors.
Longwood
leads its own competition with a score of 570, 22 strokes ahead of
Murray State (592) while Presbyterian (599), the Mount (602) and
Longwood (609) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the 11-team field.
The Mountaineers posted a 603 in the first round and a 299 in the
second round.
The
Manor Invitational marks the head coach debut for Colyn Keller, who
is in his first season at the Mount.
Mount
St. Mary's returns to action on Tuesday in the final round of the
Manor Invitational.
