PISCATAWAY,
N.J. Jeff Kingsbury (North Beach, Md./Northern) finished
36th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a 17th-place
standing at the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday.
Kingsbury
posted the two-best rounds by a Mount golfer on the weekend with a
74 on the first day and a 73 in the final round to card a 147 and
finish in 36th place, 10 strokes behind the medalist.
Alex
Mabin (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) (70th place, 152), Sage Smith
(Denver, Colo./Brophy) (70th place, 152), Brandon Powers (Bel Air,
Md./Bel Air) (86th place, 154) and Jake Wetzel (Waynesboro,
Pa./Waynesboro Area) (86th place, 154) rounded out the Mount's team
players.
Freshmen
Steve Crain (Wellsville, Pa./Northern York) and John Rosecrans
(Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) both made their collegiate debut in the
tournament. Crain finished in 79th place with a two-round score of
153 while Rosecrans placed 95th with a total of 156.
Seton
Hall won the two-day event with a score of 567, one stroke ahead of
USC Upstate (568) and two strokes ahead of Binghamton (569). Bryant
(574), Central Connecticut State (576) and Long Island (576)
rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mount finished in 17th place after
recording scores of 306 and 297 for a total of 603. Eleven of the
24 teams posted both rounds under 300 and 20 teams notched at least
one team-round under 300.
Mount
St. Mary's returns to action at the Scotty Duncan Memorial hosted
by Delaware on Oct. 4.
