LEXINGTON,
Va. Mary Beth Kasda (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) posted two
individual victories and swam the second leg of the first place
200-medley relay to help the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team
to a pair of victories on Saturday. The Mount defeated host VMI
78-36 and New Jersey Institute of Technology 66-31.
Kasda
won the 200 free and the 50 free while she teamed up with Paige
Chenet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), Courtney Gaddi (Silver Spring,
Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Kelsey Albright (Endicott,
N.Y./Endicott-Maine) to win the 200-medley relay.
Chenet
also finished second in the 50 back and Albright placed second in
the 200 free and third in the 100 back while Gaddi was third in the
50 breast.
Katie Fives
(Silver Spring, Md./Academy of Holy Cross) won the 1 meter diving
with 152.80 points.
Heather
Kurtman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) won the 50 breast and finished
second in the 100 back. Jeanne Marie Benedetti (Olney, Md./Our Lady
of Good Counsel) and Elise Radziwill (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry
Hill) were also individual winners with wins in the 100 free and 50
free, respectively. Freshman Chelsea Marrocco Matawan, N.J./Red
Bank Catholic) earned her first individual win in the 1000
free.
Maggie
O'Connell (Hagerstown, Md.) finished second in the 100 breast and
third in the 50 back. Julie Farrell (Bernardsville,
N.J./Bernardsville) was second in the 50 free and Eileen McHenry
Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) finished third in the 100
free.
Mount
St. Mary's returns to the pool at the Youngstown Invitational. The
four-day tournament starts at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
