LITTLESTOWN,
Pa. Ray Hyre (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Dan Michalek (Mount
Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) finished tied for ninth place to lead
the Mount St. Mary's men' golf team to a fifth- and eighth-place
standings at the Mount St. Mary's Fall Classic on Tuesday.
Michalek
paced the Mount's "B" team to fifth place after posting rounds of
78 and 77 for a two-day total of 155 while Hyre helped the Mount's
"A" team to a eighth-place finish after carding scores of 72 and 83
in the event to finish tied for ninth, seven strokes behind the
medalist.
Sage
Smith (Denver, Colo./Brophy) (24th place, 160), Jeff Kingsbury
(North Beach, Md./Northern) (32nd place, 164), Alex Mabin
(Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck) (39th place, 167) and Brandon Powers (Bel
Air, Md./Bel Air) (50th place, 176) rounded out the Mount's "A"
team competitors.
Jake
Wetzel (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) (18th place, 155), Justin
Nogay (Silver Spring, Md./Georgetown Prep) (22nd place, 158), Tim
Evelius (Westminster, Md./Westminster) (35th place, 165) and Brad
Gerick (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (43rd place, 170) also
participated for the "B"
team.
Jordan
Bertoglio (Orange, Calif./Servite) (41st place, 169) participated
as an individual in the event. Nogay made his collegiate debut in
the event while Bertoglio, Evelius and Gerick saw their first
action in 2008-09.
Monmouth
and Long Island finished tied for first with a score of 616, but
the Hawks won the event after winning a team playoff. Fairfield
finished third (622) while Fairleigh Dickinson (635) and the
Mount's "B" team (637) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The
Mountaineers "A" team finished eighth with a score of
646.
