FARMVILLE, Va. - Kevin Farrell (LeMoyne, Pa./Trinity) finished 14th
to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a ninth-place
standing after two rounds at the Longwood/Poplar Hill Collegiate on
Monday. The Mount shot a 315 in the first round and a 311 in rounds
two for a total of 626 on the afternoon.
Gardner-Webb leads the three-round competition with a score of 573,
12 strokes ahead of the host Lancers (585) while Presbyterian
(597), James Madison (597) and Duquesne (601) rounded out the Top-5
in the 14-team field.
Farrell shot a 78 and then a team-low 70 in the second round for a
two-round score of 148, nine strokes behind the current leader.
Freshman Jake Wetzel (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa./Waynesboro Area)
(27th, 152), Ray Hyre (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (49th place, 164), Brad
Gerick (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (62nd place, 169) and
Jeffrey Kingsbury (North Beach, Md./Northern) (66th place, 172)
rounded out the Mount's participants.
The
Mountaineers wrap up their season-opening tournament at the
Longwood/Poplar Hill Collegiate on Tuesday.
