Women's Swimming Falls To Loyola And Siena In Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. - Maggie OConnell (Hagerstown, Md.) and Paige Chenet (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) each notched three Top-4 finishes to lead Mount St. Mary's in a women's swimming triangular meet with Loyola and Siena on Saturday. The Greyhounds defeated the Mount 104-29 while the Saints were victorious 110-26 against the Mountaineers.

O'Connell posted one of the two Mount St. Mary's wins on the afternoon after taking the 400 IM (5:00.18). The sophomore also placed fourth in the 200 fly (2:24.20) and swam the third leg of the fourth place 200-medley relay (1:59.29). Chenet finished third in the 100 free (56.59) and then closed out the fourth place 200-medley relay and opened the fourth place 400 free relay (3:57.21).

Heather Kurtzman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) recorded the other first-place finish on the day with a win in the 100 breast (1:14.25). Mary Beth Kasda (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) posted fourth-place standings in the 200 breast (2:44.21) and the 100 breast (1:15.17).

Along with O'Connell and Chenet in the 200-medley relay, Eileen Coyne (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Township) and Elise Radziwill (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) swam the first two legs of the event while Radziwill, Karen Cox (Dansville) and Katie Fives (Silver Spring, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) also participated in the 400-free relay.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Jan. 18 at Saint Peter's in a triangular meet with the Peahens and St. Francis (N.Y.). Meet starts at 4 p.m.
