Senior Zach Emerson finished 81st overall to pace the Mount St.
Mary's men's cross country team to a 28th-place finish at the
highly competitive Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh
University on Friday. The Mount women finished 34th overall at the
event.
Emerson completed the 8K course in a time of 25:35 to pace the
Mount men's team. Sophomore Matt Logie was right behind, finishing
85th overall with a time of 25:37. Sophomore Morgan Sowell
(26:42), junior Dustin Bauer (26:46) and sophomore Justin Brackett
(26:49) rounded out the Mount's top five performers.
The men's team finished 28th in the field of 42 teams, just
ahead of Northeast Conference rival Monmouth. Villanova won the
event, finishing in front of Pittsburgh and Columbia.
Liz Kessler was the Mount's top runner on the women's side,
finishing the 6K course in a time of 24:00. Freshman Maura Tipping
was next at 24:54, followed by Caitlin Greene, Caitlin Finnerty and
Brianne Vozzella.
The Mount returns to action on October 14th when the team
competes in the Tribe Open hosted by the College of William and
Mary.
