September 29, 2018--Maddie Kole finished in 16th place while Will Merritt was 18th overall to pace the Mount St. Mary's cross country teams in the Brown Race at the Paul Short Run on Saturday. The Mount finished ninth in the men's Brown Race while the women were 12th in the Women's Brown Race.
In the women's Brown Race, the Mount finished 12th out of 43 teams with 414 points. Siena took home first in the field, followed by Shippensburg and Boston University. In the men's Brown Race, the Mount was ninth out of 44 teams with 325 points. Queen's University won the men's race, followed by Cornell and Stony Brook.
Kole finished 16th overall out of 363 runners to lead the Mount women's team. She finished the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:19. Erin Jaskot finished 25th overall (22:29) and Ashleigh Kocher was 59th (23:00). Clarke Hooper (115th, 23:40) and Alexandra Kay (199th, 24:30) rounded out the Mount's top five.
For the men, Merritt finished 18th overall out of 364 runners to lead the way for the Mount. Merritt, running in his first race of the season, posted a time of 25:30 for the eight-kilometer course. Nicolas Fransham was 29th with at time of 25:41, Benjamin Finnigan 43rd with a time of 25:57 and Isaac Kole 47th with a time of 26:00. Kevin Dorsey was the Mount's fifth finisher with a time of 27:41 (188th place).
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Saturday, October 13, at the Gettysburg Invitational.
