Somerset, N.J. (April 16, 2019) – Taylor Cook was tabbed Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
After winning September NEC Player of the Month plaudits last fall, Cook bookended her freshman campaign with the final NEC Player of the Week accolade of the regular season. The Largo, FL native won the Mount's lone singles match against Bucknell last Wednesday, knocking off Mishi Papich, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4, in the number four flight match. Cook also blanked Geneseo's Nina Lurie, 6-0, 6-0, on the Mount's Senior Day over the weekend. Cook and sophomore Mia Pittman won a pair of doubles matches in the third flight as well. The freshman ranked second on the team with 10 singles wins to finish up her first regular season.
Cook and the women's tennis team head to the Northeast Conference Championships on Thursday, April 18 for a Quarterfinals matchup against the No. 2 seeded Fairleigh Dickinson at 10 AM.
