Neil Yost, the first swimming & diving coach in Mount St. Mary's history, has been with the program every step of the way. Yost enters his 15th season at the helm in 2019-20.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Yost led both the men's and women's teams to new heights. He helped guide the men's squad to its first dual meet victories in program history during the regular season, and helped develop seven student-athletes who would go on to compete at the 2018 CSCAA National Invitational. On the women's side, Yost led the team to its best dual meet record in program history (6-2), as the team won the first six meets to open the season.

Prior to the 2016-17 campaign, Mount St. Mary's added a men's swimming and diving program, which Yost took the helm of. Yost saw six of his swimmers qualify for the ECAC Championships in the first year, with Vincent Huang earning the Mount's top individual finish at the championships, placing sixth in the 100 breast.

During his time in Emmitsburg, Yost has coached women's swimmers to three First Team All-NEC honors, six Second Team All-NEC selections and six Third Team All-NEC honors, as well as one Second Team relay and one Third Team relay.

In 2015-16, the Mount women opened the season with a 4-0 record for the first time in program history after collecting victories over NEC foes St. Francis Brooklyn and Saint Francis U, followed by wins over Howard and American. The triumph over American was the first-ever win over a Patriot League school in program history.

The 2014-15 women's season was highlighted by Erin Regan and Haley Fournier earning All-NEC honors. Regan received second team accolades in the 200 fly and 200 fly, while Fournier was a third team member for the 1650 free to help the Mount take fifth in the NEC Championships.

The program took a step forward at the 2014 Women's NEC Championships when Regan became the first swimmer in Mount history to win two individual events in the same Championships, capturing gold in the 100 and 200 butterfly. The 284.5 points scored by the Mount at the 2014 Championships were the second-most in program history.

In 2013, Yost helped guide Regan and Courtney Griffith to All-NEC accolades. Regan earned Second Team after finishing second in the 200 fly at the NEC Championships, while Griffin took home Third Team honors for the 100 fly.

At the 2012 NEC Women's Championships, Yost helped Regan to a gold medal in the 200 butterfly. Regan became the first Mount swimmer to win an individual event at the Championships and the first to win a major award as she earned Rookie of the Meet. The team’s 200 freestyle relay squad also became the first relay to earn All-NEC recognition with a Second Team selection.

In 2010-11, two of Yost's swimmers earned the first medals at the NEC Championships in program history. Griffith finished second in the 100 fly and Patricia Yam placed third in the 200 fly.

Along with the success in the pool, Yost's teams have excelled in the classroom as well. The Mount has been recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for having a 3.0 grade point average or better in five different seasons. In addition, Maggie O'Connell Dubois was named the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2010, Haley Fournier earned the honor in 2016, and Sarah Bonson was named a recipient in 2017.

The Mount St. Mary's women's team notched a 3-5 season in its first full year as a program in 2006-07 and finished ninth at the NEC Championships. Yost and his squad picked up the team's first-ever dual meet win against the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Oct. 28, 2006 and also earned victories against Saint Peter's and NEC rival St. Francis (N.Y.). Yost started the program in 2005-06 with a team of walk-ons and the team competed in three events in its inaugural season.

Yost came to the Mount with nine years of coaching experience.  Since 2002, Yost was the men's and women's swimming coach at Waynesboro High School. He also served as the head swimming coach and aquatics director at the Waynesboro Area YMCA.  Before coaching at Waynesboro High School he was the aquatics director at the Westport/Weston YMCA from 2001-02. He was also the assistant swimming coach at Bloomsburg University and the head coach at the Central Columbia Aquatics Club for two years after serving as an assistant coach for two years. Yost started his coaching career as an assistant coach at the Central Columbia Aquatics High School from 1996-2000.
