Women’s Swimming & Diving Topped by La Salle on Senior Day


Emmitsburg, Md. (January 26, 2019) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming & diving team was topped by La Salle, 125-87, on Saturday afternoon.

Mount St. Mary's honored seniors Alyssa Felos, Lauren Gullickson, Ashley Kegley, Mary Lombardi, Cassie Mann, Meghan McCarthy, Maddie McGraw, and Laci Vickery with a ceremony prior to the meet as part of Senior Day, recognizing their contributions to the program and the university throughout their time at the Mount.

Jordan Friedman claimed victory in the 100 free (1:02.47), and Lauren Gullickson took the top spot in the 100 breast (1:17.63) for the team's top individual finishes of the day. Alyssa Felos (1:18.65) and Meghan McCarthy (1:29.15) finished second and third in the 100 breast, as the Mount claimed the top-three spots in the event.

The Mountaineers also registered a first-place finish in the 400 free relay as the squad of Valeria Villagran, Juliet Whitman, Maggie deTar and Eliza Felos combined for a time of 4:14.01.

Villagran and Mary Lombardi each earned a pair of second-place showings on the afternoon. Villagran took second in the 50 free (29.18) and 100 fly (1:08.68), and Lombardi placed second in the 200 free (2:12.65) and 400 free (4:39.96).

Eliza Felos swam to a second-place showing in the 100 back (1:06.75) and Haley Bodner placed third in the 200 free (2:26.96) for the team's other top finishes of the day.

In the 1-meter dive, Vickery registered the Mount's top score (161.92) to take fourth, while Laura Kingham (144.45) and Catherine Davis (123.45) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

In the 400 medley relay, Maddie McGraw, Alyssa Felos, Whitman, and Friedman placed second with a time of 4:31.16.

The Mountaineers close out regular season competition with a dual meet at Loyola on February 2 at 1 p.m.
