Lancaster, Pa. (November 18, 2018) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming & diving team claimed fourth place at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, as the Mountaineers closed out the final night of competition on Sunday.
The Mount earned 858 team points over the three-day event to take fourth place. Washington and Lee won the invite with 1732 points, and University of Mary Washington (1190.5) and York College (861) rounded out the top-three.
Mary Lombardi and Maddie McGraw registered the team's top individual finishes of the day. Lombardi took second place in the 500 free with a time of 5:10.26, while McGraw finished second in the 200 back in 2:06.86.
Jordan Friedman earned the Mount's top times in a pair of events on Sunday. The rookie placed fifth in the 200 IM (2:11.94) and eighth in the 100 free (54.48). Two other Mountaineers joined Friedman among the top-20 in the 200 IM, as Maggie deTar earned a 10th-place showing (2:13.02), and Lauren Gullickson placed 14th (2:16.76).
In the 100 breast, Gullickson notched the Mount's top finish with a seventh-place showing (1:09.48), while Elizabeth Fahrney finished just behind her in eighth place (1:11.05). Alyssa Felos was next up for the Mount in the event, earning an 11th-place finish (1:09.64).
The Mountaineers had a pair of swimmers post top-20 showings in the 200 fly, led by deTar's 13th-place finish (2:15.19). Lizanne Passaro placed 19th (2:21.68) in the event.
To close out the meet, the Mount's relay team of McGraw, Friedman, Lombardi and Valeria Villagran raced to a third-place showing in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:36.89.
