October 9, 2018--Mount St. Mary's sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Barron has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Barron recorded her first clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 win over Robert Morris last Friday before stopping eight of nine shots in a 1-0 loss to defending NEC champion Saint Francis U on Sunday.
For the week, Barron had a 0.50 goals against average and a 0.923 save percentage, making 12 saves with just one goal allowed in the two games. For the season, Barron has a 0.92 GAA and a .800 save percentage while going 2-3-3 in eight games. She has been even better in NEC play with a 0.68 GAA and a .870 save percentage in four starts.
The Mountaineers (2-7-3, 1-1-2 NEC) are back in action on Sunday, October 14, when Sacred Heart visits Waldron Family Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
