Emmitsburg, Md. (September 9, 2018)--Mount St. Mary's fell to Loyola, 1-0, on a rainy afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium on Sunday. The Greyhounds scored in the 52nd minute to earn the narrow victory.
After a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds (3-4-0) broke through when Sarah Bayer carried the ball down the left side of the field, beat a pair of defenders in the penalty area, and buried her shotl to the right side of the goal. Loyola goalkeeper Sumer Rahe made one save to earn the shutout victory.
Loyola held a 9-to-5 edge in shots in the game, which was played in a steady rain throughout. The Greyhounds also had the edge in corner kicks, 5-2. Freshman Maddie Tchou had the only shot on goal for the Mountaineers.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Sunday, September 16, at 1:00 p.m. with a home game against Delaware State. It will be Senior Day with the Mount honoring this year's senior class prior to the game.
