Mount St. Mary's Women's Soccer Falls to Old Dominion on Sunday Night

August 19, 2018—The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team lost at Old Dominion, 3-0, in a game that featured a pair of weather delays.  The Monarchs scored twice in the last 10 minutes to break open the game.

The Mount (0-2-0) had a chance to get on the scoreboard first, but Gianna Pomykacz saw her shot in the 18th minute hit the cross bar.  Pomykacz led the Mount offense with three shots in the game.  Old Dominion (1-0-1), picked fourth in the Conference USA preseason poll, broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 42nd minute.  Morgan Hall was the goal scorer on an assist from Madison Morningstar.

The Monarchs scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal the win.  Kira Laurento's goal in the 80th minute made it a two-goal game, and an Iris Achterhof tally in the 87th minute closed out the scoring.

Old Dominion outshot the Mount, 19-to-5, in the game while holding a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.  Mount goalkeeper Charlotte Elrod made four saves in her second consecutive start.

The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, August 24, with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Penn.
