Women’s Soccer Falls at Fairleigh Dickinson in Season Finale

Teaneck, N.J. (October 29, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's soccer team fell at Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1, in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half of play, but Fairleigh Dickinson grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the second on Kristina Neri's unassisted tally in the 55th minute.

Neri struck again just eight minutes later with her fourth goal of the season to make it 2-0 Knights. Neri received a pass from Sofia Albertsson and fired a shot from the left side of the box that found its way past goalie Charlotte Elrod.

With under four minutes remaining in the contest, Amanda Britain finished a header off a corner kick from Jenna West to trim the deficit to 2-1. The tally was the first collegiate goal of Britain's career.

Albertsson netted an insurance goal for the Knights with under two minutes showing on the clock, and the Knights closed out the 3-1 victory to improve to 9-8-3 on the year and 7-1-1 in NEC play.

Amanda Fitzgerald earned the win in net for FDU with an eight-save performance, while Elrod took the loss for the Mount despite making eight saves.

The Mount closes out the 2017 campaign at 5-12-1 overall and a 2-6 Northeast Conference mark.
