Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Francis U

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 27, 2017) – Mount St. Mary's University dropped a 3-1 decision to Saint Francis U in Northeast Conference women's soccer action on Friday night at Waldron Family Stadium.

Saint Francis U struck early in the first half on Gabi Morales' fifth goal of the season. Alyssa McGhee worked her way down the far sideline and sent a low driven cross to the middle, where Morales one-timed it past goalie Maggie Barron to give the Red Flash a 1-0 advantage.

The Mount held SFU off the board for the remainder of the first period, but the Red Flash netted another early in the second to push their lead to 2-0. Siobhan Bross made a move past a Mount defender and fired a shot into the upper left corner from around 25 yards out to collect her first tally of the year.

McGhee made it 3-0 Red Flash in the 67th minute with her team-leading eighth goal of the year. Leah Hardin and Abigail Tarosky picked up assists on the play.

The Mount was able to cut into the SFU lead in the 78th minute of play. Sarah Harmon sent a pass towards the middle of the box and Jordan Fine beat goalie Julia Hernan with a one-time shot to bring the Mountaineers within a pair, 3-1. The score was Fine's first of the season.

SFU closed out the 3-1 victory to improve to 8-7-2 overall and 5-1-1 in NEC play, while the Mount dropped to 5-11-1 and 2-5 in the NEC.

Hernan grabbed her eighth win in net with a three-save performance, while Barron made five saves in goal for the Mount.

The Mount wraps up the regular season at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, October 29 at 2 p.m.
