Petito Named NEC Defensive Player of the Week for Third Time this Season
Somerset, N.J. (April 8, 2019) – Senior goalie Jillian Petito was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, as she collected the honor for the third time this season.

Petito, the reigning NEC Defensive Player of the Year, continued her dominant season over the weekend, helping the Mount claim wins over Saint Francis U and Robert Morris to extend the team's win streak to seven straight. The senior combined for 23 saves and a .676 save percentage while yielding just 5.5 goals per game. Petito recorded 13 saves in the win over SFU on Friday, which marked her second-highest total in a game this season. On Sunday, the net minder stopped 10 shots while holding RMU to a season-low in goals with just three. Petito and the Mountaineer defense held the Colonials scoreless for a 44:22 stretch during the contest. Petito currently ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.561) and third in goals against average (7.22) this season.

Petito and the Mountaineers are set for a crucial NEC tilt against defending league champion Wagner on Saturday, April 13 at Waldron Family Stadium.
