Somerset, N.J. (March 25, 2019) – Jordan Butler has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Player of the Week, and Jillian Petito has been tabbed the NEC Defensive Player of the Week, as the Mountaineers took home a pair of awards following their dominating week that saw them post big victories over Longwood and Campbell to stretch their win streak to four straight.
Butler powered the Mount's offense in the pair of victories, tallying a combined 12 points on seven goals and five assists over the week. She tied her career high with eight points on Wednesday against Longwood, registering four goals and four helpers in the contest for her second eight-point effort of the year. The sophomore followed it up with three goals and one assist in Saturday's win at Campbell to cap off her week. Butler leads the squad with 22 goals and 31 points this season.
Petito continued her strong year between the pipes for the Mount as she helped guide the team to two more victories over Longwood and Campbell. The senior net minder yielded just six goals in the team's big 17-6 win on Wednesday, and followed it up with a 12-save performance and a .632 save percentage in Saturday's 18-7 triumph at Campbell. Petito ranks third in the nation with a 7.29 goals against average and is fourth in save percentage at .537.
The Mountaineers close out non-conference play with a home game against UC Davis this Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
