Daytona Beach, Fla. (April 14, 2019) – Sophomore Olivia Gardenhour finished in 22nd place on the individual leaderboard and freshman Michaila Cheung finished 25th, as the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team closed out the final round of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Sunday at LPGA International.
Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the team title with a three-round total of 918 (+54), while Sacred Heart shot a 941 (+77) and Wagner fired a 948 (+84) to round out the top three. Saint Francis U finished fourth with a 949 (+85), and LIU Brooklyn took fifth with a 972 (+108). Mount St. Mary's and St. Francis Brooklyn had less than four golfers competing and weren't eligible for team competition.
FDU's Tomita Arejola fired a three-round score of 219 (+3) to take home the individual title, as she finished 11 strokes ahead of the next competitor. Sacred Heart's Hana Bowman and Chelsea Sedlar finished second and third with scores of 230 (+14) and 231 (+15), respectively.
After shooting an 83 (+11) and 85 (+13) in her opening two rounds, Gardenhour fired off an 86 (+14) on Sunday to finish with a three-round score of 254 (+38), which earned her a 22nd-place showing.
Cheung, who began play with rounds of 90 (+18) and 88 (+16), finished strong on Sunday with her best round of the tournament with an 83 (+11). The rookie posted a three-round total of 261 (+45) to earn a 25th-place finish.
