PHOENIX, Md. - Marisol Doglioli (Aosta, Italy/Clearwater Central Catholic [Fla.]) finished 17th to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a 16th-place standing at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Monday. The event marked the first competition for the 2012-13 season.
After posting a the 10th-best single round in team history in her first collegiate round with a 78 on Sunday, Doglioli posted a 79 in the final round to end the event in 17th place with a two-round score of 157, seven strokes behind the medalist. The freshman's two-round score is the fourth-best in team history.
Kelsey Hayward recorded her second-straight 82 in the competition and registered the only birdie on the day to finish in 35th place with a score of 164. Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (76th place, 180), Amanda Reach (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) (85th place, 195) and Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (88th place, 204) also competed for the Mount.
St. John's won the event with a two-round score of 611, five strokes ahead of Old Dominion (616) while William & Mary (626), Delaware (634) and Delaware (634) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Mount finished 16 after shooting a 342 in the first round and a 348 in the second round for a total of 690.
Mount St. Mary's returns to the green at the Highlander Invitational on Sept. 23 for a 36-hole single-day competition.
