HARROGATE, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2019) – The Mount St. Mary's bowling team has gotten off to a fantastic start in the program's second year. On Wednesday, that start was acknowledged as the team soared up eight spots in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. Ranked 21st at the start of the year, Mount is now ranked 13th – the highest in team history, besting the previous high of 19th last season.
The ranking comes with a point total of 433, up from 282 in the preseason poll. Coaches on the college bowling circuit serve as the voting members.
Thanks to a full team effort led by Rebecca Dodson and Tamera Stanton, the Mount rolled their way to a 35-15 record, with an 8-7 mark against ranked teams. This includes four trophy finishes, such as the most recent tournament – a third place effort at the Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. this past November.
The Mount is also second of four Northeast Conference (NEC) teams to earn a spot in the poll. Duquesne ranks 10th, Fairleigh Dickinson ranks 17th and Sacred Heart ranks 19th. The Mountaineers stand tied for fourth in the NEC with a 3-3 record after the first meet.
Mount St. Mary's returns to the lanes this weekend for NEC Meet #2 in York, Pa.
