SOMERSET, New Jersey (Nov. 20, 2019) - For the second straight week, Mount St. Mary's sophomore Rebecca Dodson has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Bowler of the Week. The award was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Dodson helped the Mount earn a third-place finish at the Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., once again averaging well over 21.0 pins per frame. Defeating four top-20 programs in the process, Dodson fired 72 strikes in 135 attempts (.537) to lead the team and filled frames almost 95 percent of the time. She averaged 9.28 pins per first ball for the three-day event as the Mountaineers finished with a record of 10-3. Dodson took home the tournament's MVP award, aided largely by leading the field with a 225.0 traditional game average. Her weekend high came in a win over No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore as she bowled a 245, and backed that up with a 236 in a victory over No. 15 Delaware State. Those efforts helped Dodson eclipse the 205-pin mark in all five team matches.
The sophomore's performance comes off another NEC Bowler of the Week after registering a 21.30 pins per frame average during the first NEC Conference Meet.
This is the third NEC Bowler award for the Mount, as Tamera Stanton also won following the Mountaineers' effort at the season opening Bud Whitman Invitational.
