SOMERSET, New Jersey (Oct. 16, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's sophomore Tamera Stanton has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Bowler of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Stanton was a major factor in helping The Mount earn an 8-2 record during the Bud Whitman Memorial in Reading, Pa. this past weekend. The Mountaineers finished third on day one, with Stanton leading the way with a 21.1 Baker average and an 82 percent fill percentage.
On day two for individuals, Stanton finished with a 210.8 average to tie for fourth place. This included a program best 276 in the fourth game as Mount defeated Bloomfield 1107-808. The team's total pinfall is also the highest total for an individual match in program history.
Stanton came into her sophomore season after earning NEC All-Rookie and All-Tournament honors as a freshman. This is her first Bowler of the Week nod, but she also won a Rookie of the Week acknowledgement at the 2018 Bud Whitman Memorial.
In addition to Stanton's honor, Rebecca Dodson was named to the NEC's Prime Performers List.
Mount St. Mary's bowling is ranked No. 21 by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA). The Mountaineers will host the Mount Shootout Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 19-20) at Terrace Lanes in Frederick, Md.
