Teams competing in the Red Flash Invitational will be: #9 Saint Francis U, #19 Mount St. Mary's, #25 Kutztown, Felician, LIU-Post, Mount Aloysius, Norfolk State, Penn State-Behrend, and Penn State-Altoona.
The 19th-ranked Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team rounded out the final day of the Kutztown Invite with a 7-6 record, which included the team's first-ever win over a top-five opponent. The Mount holds an impressive 45-18 record on the year after the tournament and picked up five wins over top-25 ranked opponents in the toughest competition of the season.
In the first day of the tournament, the Mount picked up wins over Howard, #12 Wisconsin Whitewater, and #22 Maryville. The two losses came at the hands of #4 Arkansas State and #6 Tulane, both of which rolled their best sets of the day against the Mount. Rebecca Dodson led the way with a 22.02 baker frame average, while Danielle Milo and Ashley Santos also contributed nicely with an 18.49 and 18.33 baker frame average, respectively.
The Mountaineers went 3-2 on the second day of the invite with wins over #11 North Carolina A&T, Medaille, and #5 Sam Houston State. The two losses came against Long Island-Post and Youngstown State. Danielle Milo led the way for the Mount with a 1,003 five game total (200.6 average). Rebecca Dodson and Tamera Stanton also contributed with five game totals of 947 (189.4 average) and 933 (186.6 average), respectively.
In round one on the final day, Mount St. Mary's lost to #16 Sacred Heart, 4-1, in a best-of-seven match. In round two, the Mount edged the tournament host, #25 Kutztown, by a 4-3 margin thanks to a pair of 200 games down the stretch. The win over the Golden Bears placed the Mountaineers against #16 Sacred Heart. The second match against the Pioneers saw SHU take down the Mountaineers by a 4-1 final once again.
The Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team heads back to Kutztown for the Golden Bear Classic on February 8–10.
