The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team hosts Washington College in the 2018-19 regular season opener on Tuesday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at Knott Arena.
>> The Mountaineers closed out the 2017-18 season at 9-20 overall and 6-12 in Northeast Conference play, just missing out on a playoff berth
>> The Mount's offense ranked second in the conference in points per game, averaging a clip of 63.9 a contest, which was the team's highest output since the 2013-14 season.
>> Four different Mountaineers averaged in double figures during the season, including top returnees Juliette Lawless (11.2 ppg) and Daly Sullivan (10.1).
>> The Mountaineers return eight players from last year's roster, including three starters in Juliette Lawless, Daly Sullivan, and Kayla Agentowicz.
>> Lawless was named the Northeast Conference's Most Improved Player and earned a spot on the All-NEC Third Team after a breakout season a year ago. The point guard led the team in in points (11.2), rebounds (6.4), assists (3.5), and steals (1.8) per game, and tallied double-digit points in 12 of the team's 18 conference games.
>> Sullivan enters her sophomore season coming off an NEC All-Rookie Team selection in 2017-18. The sharpshooter burst onto the scene as a freshman, finishing the campaign with the second-most three-pointers in a season (75) in Mount program history. Sullivan ranked fourth in the NEC in three-pointers made on the year and 10th in three-point percentage (.350).
>> The Mount brought in six newcomers to help bolster this year's squad, including four freshmen and two transfers.
>> Rookies Taylor Addison (Ellicott City, Md.), Maqui Carrillo Ade (Rockville, Md.), Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Conn.), and Michaela Harrison (Cleveland, Ohio) each enter their first collegiate season in 2018-19.
>> Transfers Alexis Wooden and Kendall Bresee come to the Mount with two years of eligibility remaining. Wooden played two seasons at Coffeyville Community College, where she averaged 8.0 points and 5.9 rebounds a game as a sophomore last year. Bresee spent two seasons at George Washington University, and registered 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest during her sophomore season last year.
NEC PRESEASON POLL
>> The Mount was picked to finish tied for fifth in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, which was announced late last month.
>> Last year's runner-up Robert Morris was tabbed the preseason favorite, receiving five first-place votes, while reigning NEC Champion Saint Francis U was picked second.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON COLLEGE
>> The Shorewomen finished at 6-19 overall while averaging 53.3 points per game during the 2017-18 campaign. Guard Caitlyn Clark (8.2 ppg) and forward Cassidy Quattro (8.0) led the squad in scoring.
>> The Mountaineers head to Ann Arbor to face Michigan on November 9 at 7 p.m. The Wolverines received top-25 votes in the latest Associated Press Poll.
