Mount Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 6/5 Maryland

College Park, Md. (November 18, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University dropped a 106-42 decision at No. 6/5 Maryland in non-conference women's basketball action on Friday at the XFINITY Center.

Five Terrapins scored in double-figures, led by Brionna Jones' game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds as the senior registered a double-double. Ieshia Small added 14 points and Kaila Charles, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Jenna Staiti chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Junior Katrice Dickson paced the Mountaineers with a team-high 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a 2-for-5 mark from downtown. Junior center Caroline Hummell added nine points and freshman guard Kayla Agentowicz registered seven points and three rebounds.

The Mount hung tough in the opening quarter, going back and forth with the Terrapins while holding a lead in the early parts of the period. Dickson led the squad with a team-high seven points on 3-of-5 shooting in the frame as the Mount headed into the second down by just five, 18-13.

The Maryland defense stymied the Mountaineers in the second quarter as the Terrapins outscored the Mount by a 21-7 margin to open a 37-20 advantage. Brionna Jones paced Maryland with 12 points in the half, going 5-of-9 from the field.

Maryland scored the opening 10 points of third quarter, and went on to outscore the Mount by a 24-9 margin through the remainder of the stanza to take a 71-29 advantage into the fourth. The Terrapin offense broke out for 35 points in the final quarter as they closed out the 106-42 victory to improve to 3-0.
