Lewisburg, Pa. (November 24, 2015) – Mount St. Mary's University women's basketball dropped a 71-45 decision to Bucknell in non-conference women's basketball action Tuesday at Sojka Pavilion. Sophomore Jessica Harris led all Mount scorers with 10 points in the contest.
Harris went 4-of-7 from the field to collect her fourth straight game with double-digit points. Three other Mountaineers chipped in with six points each.
Claire DeBoer topped all scorers in the game with 19 points to pace Bucknell, while Megan McGurk and Sune Swart added a combined 21 points for the Bison.
The Mount (1-3) took an early 8-2 lead in the opening period, propelled by three points apiece from Sarafina Arthur-Williams and Harris. Bucknell was able to cut its deficit to 14-13 late in the period, but Katrice Dickson hit a buzzer-beating layup to put the Mount up three, 16-13, after one.
Mount St. Mary's held a 23-19 lead early in the second quarter before Bucknell went on a 17-1 run to close out the period. The Bison headed into the locker room with a 12-point advantage, 36-24.
Harris, Alexis Carter and Kayla Bates combined for 13 points to lead the Mount in the second half of play, but DeBoer answered with 12 of her 19 points in the half as Bucknell (4-1) held onto its lead to earn the 71-45 victory.
The Mountaineers return to action for their fourth straight road contest on Sunday (Nov. 29) at Coppin State, with opening tip scheduled for 3 p.m.
