MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team looks to bust out of a four-game losing streak with Monday's road test at Bryant. Playing on the road for the 16th time this season, the Mountaineers lead the league by shooting 36.2 percent from three-point range.
GAME DETAILS: Due to the threat of another snow storm in New England, Monday's tip-off has been moved up from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. The game will be live streamed through NECFrontRow.com.
LAST TIME OUT: Despite a game-high 19 points from senior Jacqueline Brewer, a Mount St. Mary's second-half comeback fell short in a 60-49 loss at Northeast Conference leading Central Connecticut at Detrick Gymnasium on Saturday.
The Mount, which trailed Central Connecticut by 10 points with four minutes remaining, cut the deficit down to just three at 52-49 with 2:31 to play before the Blue Devils scored the final eight points to pull away. The Mount forced the first-place Blue Devils into 21 turnovers, but was outrebounded by a 42-23 margin on the afternoon.
ABOUT BRYANT: Bryant, currently third in the Northeast Conference standings, is the highest-scoring team in the league with 73.6 points per game. Coming off a 70-67 overtime loss at Sacred Heart on Saturday, the Bulldogs return to the Chace Athletic Center where they have gone 9-1 on the year. Five Bryant players average double figures led by Breanna Rucker and her 16.3 points per game. Rucker has also recorded a league-leading 17 double-doubles.
LAST SEASON VS. BRYANT: Mount St. Mary's swept a pair of games with Bryant a year ago. In the first matchup on Jan. 25 in Emmitsburg, the Mount set a program record with 15 made three pointers in an 84-79 overtime win. Jacqueline Brewer scored a then-career high 27 points.
When the two sides faced off on Feb. 17 in Smithfield, five Mount players scored in double figures in an 84-78 win.
Of the Mount's returners, Brewer was the team's most productive offensive player against the Bulldogs a year ago with 19.0 points per game.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BRYANT: The Mount has gone 7-2 versus Bryant with the series beginning on March 2, 2009. Of the nine all-time meetings, three have been decided in overtime. Mount St. Mary's has won three in a row in Smithfield, R.I. and has lost just once on the road in the series with the lone defeat coming on Jan. 29, 2011.
UP NEXT: The Mount returns to Emmitsburg, Md. from its four-game road swing to host Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 4:30 p.m. The game will mark the annual Play 4Kay day where teams will wear pink to raise awareness about breast cancer.
