Jacqueline Brewer Captures NEC Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

Somerset, N.J. (December 15, 2014) – Following a pair of 20-plus scoring efforts, Mount St. Mary's senior guard Jacqueline Brewer (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) was named Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

In guiding the Mountaineers to a 1-1 record with a win over Coppin State followed by a loss at NC State, the Martinsburg, W.Va. native combined for 50 points. The senior guard shot 59.3 percent from the field while averaging 25.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.

Helping spark an 81-65 home win over Coppin State, Brewer connected on five three-pointers en-route to a career-best 28 points.

Brewer, who shot 64.3 percent from beyond the arc last week, carried her hot hand into a road contest at ACC member North Carolina State. Shooting 57.1 percent (8-for-14) from the floor, including a 4-for-6 clip from three-point range, Brewer netted a team-high 22 points to go with five rebounds in a loss to the Wolfpack.

With nine three-pointers in her past two games, Brewer (2.11/g) elevated herself into fifth place on the NEC leader board in three-pointers made.

Brewer is the second Mount St. Mary's women's basketball player honored by the conference office this season, joining freshman Jessica Harris who took home NEC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 1.

The Mountaineers return home to Knott Arena to take on Bucknell on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m.
