MOUNT UPDATE: Playing at home for the second time this season, the Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team hosts Coppin State on Wednesday night. The Mountaineers are coming off road losses at UMES and Loyola, but are 12-4 at Knott Arena over the past two seasons including a 1-0 mark this year. At 10.1 points per game apiece, seniors Jenn Carney and Jacqueline Brewer are the Mount's leading scorers.
LAST TIME OUT: Trailing by as many as 13 in the first half at Loyola, the Mount stormed all the way back to take the lead with 6:30 left in Saturday's game before falling, 56-49. Freshman Katrice Dickson scored a career-high nine points off the bench to lead the Mount, which forced Loyola into 27 turnovers on the day.
ABOUT COPPIN STATE: The road-tested Coppin State squad, which is 1-6 on the year, will be playing its sixth away game of the season on Wednesday. The Eagles opened the season with four-consecutive losses before defeating Division II Virginia Union on Nov. 29. Coppin State holds teams to .277 shooting from three-point range and is led in scoring by Janelle Lane's 10.7 points per game.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. COPPIN STATE: Mount St. Mary's owns a 3-2 series edge versus Coppin State, dating back to the Mount's first season at the Division I level in 1988-89. The Mount is 2-0 at Knott Arena in the series, while the Eagles have won two in a row overall. The two sides have not squared off since Dec. 7, 2002 in Baltimore, Md.
MOUNT AT KNOTT ARENA: Mount St. Mary's, which posted an 11-4 record at Knott Arena during the 2013-14 season, is 49-50 at home under eighth-year Head Coach Bryan Whitten. Since the venue opened prior to the 1987-88 campaign, Mount St. Mary's has put together a 237-119 record.
BY COMMITTEE: Through seven games, four different players (Brewer, Carney, Chickey and Dickson) have led the team or tied for the team lead in points. Brewer has led the team in scoring on four occasions this season.
UP NEXT: The Mount makes a return trip to North Carolina to face NC State on Saturday, Dec. 13. Tipoff at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh is set for 7 p.m.
