MOUNT ST. MARY'S (1-4) at MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE (1-4)

MOUNT UPDATE: Set to compete on the road for the fifth time this season, the Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team makes the trip to Princess Anne, Md. to take on Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The senior duo of Jacqueline Brewer and Jenn Carney has provided much of the Mount's offense with both players averaging 10.4 points per game. Junior Sarafina Arthur-Williams has emerged as an inside presence with games of 11 and 18 points in the team's last two outings.
LAST TIME OUT: Jenn Carney scored a season-high 23 points, and Sarafina Arthur-Williams registered her first career double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Mount to a 73-64 win over Delaware State in the home opener at Knott Arena on Nov. 26. The Mount led for all but 5:41 of the game and outrebounded the Lady Hornets by a 44-31 margin.
ABOUT MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE: After a tough stretch that included four-consecutive losses to begin the season, UMES earned a 63-38 win over Division II Cheyney on Nov. 25 at home. The Lady Hawks, which have used the same starting lineup in all five games, are led by Jessica Long's 11.8 points per game. Alexis Udoji is averaging 10.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game and posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards against Cheyney.
LAST SEASON VS. UMES: The Mount cruised to an 85-61 victory over UMES at Knott Arena on Dec. 21, 2013. Then-seniors Ashley Christie and Sydney Henderson posted 22 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the offense, which shot 29-for-56 (51.8 percent) from the field. As a team, the Mount assisted on 20 of the 29 made field goals.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. UMES: Mount St. Mary's is 12-0 in the all-time series with the Lady Hawks, dating back to the first meeting on Nov. 28, 1980. The Mount has gone 4-0 versus UMES during the Bryan Whitten era and 4-0 in road games in the all-time series.
NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Mount freshman Jessica Harris earned NEC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 1 for her 14-point, nine-rebound effort on Nov. 26 versus Delaware State. Harris, who is averaging 6.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, is the first Mount freshman to start multiple games since the 2010-11 season.
STATE TESTING: The Mount's 2014-15 schedule includes four opponents from the state of Maryland, including UMES. Having taken on Maryland in the season opener, the Mountaineers' next two opponents are Loyola and Coppin State.
MOUNT VS. THE MEAC: UMES is the second of three MEAC schools on the Mount's schedule this season, having already faced Delaware State. Against the teams currently in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Mount's record is 26-18 overall, 14-7 since moving to Division I prior to the 1988-89 season and 5-3 in Bryan Whitten's eight-year Mount St. Mary's career.
