Mount Women's Basketball Goes Head-to-Head with Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday

MOUNT UPDATE: With Saturday's 69-60 road win over LIU Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary's moved into a three-way tie with Bryant and Sacred Heart for third in the Northeast Conference. In the Mount's last five games, four different players have led the team in scoring with Sydney Henderson doing it twice. In NEC games this season, the Mount's 39.2 percent three-point field goal percentage is the best in the 10-team league. Henderson is tied for first in the NEC with 37.2 minutes per game, while her 17.7 points per game are tied for fifth in the NEC.

LAST TIME OUT: Jessie Kaufman led three Mount scorers in double-figures with 17 points off the bench in a 69-60 victory at LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 8. Sydney Henderson finished one rebound shy of her fifth career double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. The Mountaineers led the entire first half and trailed a total of 22 seconds in the second half to beat the Blackbirds.

ABOUT FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON: FDU had a 1-20 record on the season before upsetting Sacred Heart last time out on Saturday by an 82-70 final. Kelsey Cruz leads FDU with 14.0 points per game, and Brianna Thomas adds 12.9. For the Knights, who are being outscored by an average of 14.1 points per game, both wins on the season have come at home.

LAST SEASON VS. FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON: After falling to Fairleigh Dickinson in the first meeting last season at Knott Arena, 69-60, in overtime on Jan. 5, 2013, the Mount bounced back with a road win by a final score of 70-62 at Stratis Arena on March 2. The Mount's two leading scorers from last year, Sydney Henderson and Jacqueline Brewer, averaged 8.0 and 16.5 points respectively in the two meetings.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH FDU: The Mount is 25-21 versus FDU in the all-time series, and 8-13 in road games in the series. 

CLOSING THE DOOR: In the Mount's 69-60 win at LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 8, the team improved to 10-1 on the season when leading at halftime. In Whitten's seven-year Mount career, the squad is 59-21 when leading through 20 minutes and 38-12 when winning at halftime in NEC regular season games.

IMPROVING AT THE LINE: In two games since shooting 11-of-22 (50.0 percent) from the free throw line in a 67-60 loss to Robert Morris, the Mount is 30-of-36 (83.3 percent) from the charity stripe. Individually, Jenn Carney has made 24 free throws in a row and has not missed since Jan. 6 against LIU Brooklyn. 

ON SHORT NOTICE: When playing the day after or two days after the previous game, the Mount is 5-1 on the season. The team's only loss on short turnaround time was an 81-66 defeat at Saint Francis U on Jan. 20.
