MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's renews its rivalry with Loyola on Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. as the two sides compete for the 35th time in the all-time series, which the Mount leads, 22-12. The Mount is 1-1 at home and looking for its first win over a Patriot League opponent in three tries this season. Sydney Henderson's 18.6 points per game lead the offense, while Kayla Grossett has been the Mount's top rebounder with 5.1 boards per game.
LAST TIME OUT: The Mount fought back from a nine-point second-half deficit to pull even with Navy, but ultimately stumbled down the stretch in a 63-55 defeat on the road on Dec. 3. A trio of seniors, Jessie Kaufman, Ashley Christie and Sydney Henderson, scored 11 points apiece to lead the Mount's offense on the night.
ABOUT LOYOLA: In the Greyhounds' most recent 66-65 road win over Saint Peter's on Dec. 1, Kara Marshall dropped 24 points on the Peacocks, while Nai Brown added 17 points. Marshall and Brown are Loyola's two leading scorers with 12.9 and 12.7 points per game averages. Loyola is 1-3 on the road and 2-5 overall on the season.
LAST TIME VS. LOYOLA: Ashley Christie scored 14 points and Selina Mann added 10 points and eight rebounds in a 59-54 home win over Loyola on Dec. 10, 2011. The Mount forced the Greyhounds into 21 turnovers, and held Loyola to just 14 first-half points. Loyola's Katie Sheahin led all scorers with 19 points on the night.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. LOYOLA: The Mount is 22-12 all-time versus Loyola and 6-8 versus the Greyhounds since moving to Division I in 1988-89. The Mount went 11-1 versus Loyola in the 1980's and won 13 in a row against the Greyhounds from 1981-91.
1,000 POINT CLUB: Prior to the game, Sydney Henderson will be honored for becoming the 26th player in Mount history to join the 1,000 point club. She accomplished the feat on Nov. 16 against IPFW.
PATRIOT LEAGUE OPPONENTS IN 2013-14: Saturday's tilt with Loyola is the second game of a three-game stretch against the Patriot League. On Dec. 3, the Mount fell at Navy, 63-55, and will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on American on Dec. 16. Earlier in the season on Nov. 19, the Mount fell to Patriot League opponent, Lehigh, 95-67.
KNOTT ARENA: The Mount is 38-47 at home at Knott Arena since Bryan Whitten's first season in 2007-08. So far in 2013-14, the Mountaineers are 1-1. The Mount's best record at Knott Arena under Whitten is 10-4 in 2011-12, while the 1994-95 team's mark of 16-1 is the best since the venue opened in 1987-88.
